Permission to Study (a.k.a. Chop Kayu) under MM2H
Dependent children under the MM2H programme are allowed to attend international schools, but they must obtain a "Permission to Study" stamp (commonly referred to as "Chop Kayu") from the MM2H Office in Putrajaya. To be eligible, the children must be under 18 years of age and physically present in Malaysia when applying for this permission.
Required Documents for Permission to Study
- Authorisation Letter from the principal – This must be signed by the principal applicant.
- Copy of the Conditional Approval Letter.
- Copy of the principal's current passport information page and the current MM2H visa page.
- Copy of the dependent child's current passport information page, MM2H visa page, and most recent entry stamp page.
- Original letter of acceptance from the school.
- Original payment receipt or proof of enrolment fee from the school.
- Copy of the bank statement showing payment to the school.
- Two passport-sized photos with a blue background for each child – You can either provide photos with a different background, or we can take the photos at our office and arrange for printing, with additional charges applied to the invoice.
- Release Letter is required if the principal applied for MM2H through a previous agent/sponsor that is still active.
Due to impersonation fraud, a Release Letter must be obtained from the original agent/sponsor, releasing them from all responsibility related to the MM2H applicant. The principal may request the letter directly or Alter Domus can assist with this process. Please note that the previous agent/sponsor may charge a fee for issuing a Release Letter due to the loss of potential business.
All documents must be submitted to us at least 2 days before our visit to the MM2H Centre. The processing time for submitting the permission to study application at the MM2H Centre is typically 1 working day. However, if there are any system issues at the Centre, processing may be delayed by 1 or 2 working days, depending on the situation.
The MM2H Centre requires at least 14 working days (excluding weekends and public holidays) to review and process your submission. We will inform the applicant(s) once we receive approval for the dependent child(ren)’s Permission to Study.
Once approval is granted, you will need to provide your dependent children's passports at least 2 days before our visit to Putrajaya for the endorsement.
The endorsement process at the MM2H Centre usually takes 1 working day, with the passport(s) returned to your children the next day at our office. However, if there are system issues, the process may be delayed by 1 or 2 additional days before the passport(s) can be returned.
