MM2H Visa Renewal
All MM2H visas, regardless of category, are eligible for renewal for an additional 5 years once the applicant has completed the initial term specified under their visa type. We strongly recommend that MM2H participants begin the renewal process at least 6 months prior to the visa’s expiration.
Applicants and their dependents are required to be physically present in Malaysia to finalise the renewal process.
Required Documents for MM2H Renewal (Submission)
- Letter of Intent from the Principal – Must be signed by the principal applicant.
- Original and copy of the Conditional Approval Letter.
- Copies of the old passport’s personal information page and the first endorsed MM2H visa page (for the principal and all dependents).
- In case of a lost old passport, a police report must be lodged in Malaysia and submitted to the MM2H Office.
- Copies of the current passport’s personal information page and the current MM2H visa page (for the principal and all dependents).
- Copy of the most recent entry stamp page from the current/old passport (for the principal and all dependents).
- IMM.12 form for each applicant.
- IMM.55 form for each applicant.
- Depending on how the applicant applied for MM2H, the following will apply:
- Fixed Deposit or Time Deposit Method:
- New and original Bank Lien Letter with the latest/current date and reflecting the current passport number(s) – The letter must include the bank’s header, the officer’s name, signature, and stamp.
- The latest bank statement showing the Fixed Deposit/Time Deposit amount, matching the details in the Bank Lien Letter. This statement must be certified by the bank officer, including their name, date of certification, stamp, and signature.
- Offshore Income/Pension Method:
- The latest 3 months’ bank statements showing deposits of offshore income or a pension of at least RM10,000 (must be in English). If not, a translated version certified by your embassy is required.
- A statement showing a balance of RM350,000 or more in a local savings/current account.
- A confirmation letter from the government for pensioners.
- Fixed Deposit or Time Deposit Method:
- Personal Bond for each applicant – We will arrange this for you at no extra charge.
- For dependents under MM2H, official documents proving the relationship, such as marriage or birth certificates, must be submitted – These documents must be in English and certified by either the Malaysian Embassy/Consulate abroad or a foreign embassy/consulate in Malaysia. For further details on this process, please refer to this link (will provide this page soon).
- A copy of Malaysian medical/health insurance for applicants under 60 years old – If you don’t have insurance, we can assist in obtaining a basic plan for renewal, with any additional fees added to your invoice.
- Medical health check and report (MFII) for each applicant – This must be completed at a licensed clinic or hospital in Malaysia, with the doctor’s signature and stamp on the MFII form.
- Original Statutory Declaration as “single”, “unmarried” and “unemployed in Malaysia” must be made through a Commissioner for Oaths in Malaysia – This applies to dependents aged 21 and above.
Note: Children under the MM2H dependent pass can renew only up to 34 years old, based on their birth date or depending on the validity of the new passport. - Two passport-sized photographs with a blue background – If the photo has a different background colour, you can send it to us, or we can take the photo at our office for an additional charge.
All documents should be submitted to us at least 2 days prior to our visit to the MM2H Centre.
The renewal submission at the MM2H Centre typically takes 1 working day to process. However, if there are any system issues at the centre, processing may be delayed by 1 or 2 working days, depending on the situation.
The MM2H Centre usually takes around 3 months (or longer) to review and process your submission. We will notify the applicant(s) once we have received the new Approval Letter for their renewal endorsement.
Applicant(s) have 6 months from the date on the new Approval Letter to complete the endorsement. We highly recommend that applicant(s) complete their endorsement as early as possible to avoid any unexpected issues, such as system failures at the MM2H Centre.
Required Documents for MM2H Renewal (Endorsement)
- Authorisation Letter from the principal – This must be signed by the principal applicant.
- Original and copy of the new MM2H Approval Letter.
- Original current passport – Must include the current MM2H visa and the latest entry stamp. If the applicant(s) has renewed their passport after receiving the new Approval Letter, before the endorsement, they must bring the following documents:
- Original new passport:
- If the new passport was renewed through the embassy in Malaysia, please provide the courier envelope or any supporting documentation from the embassy, such as the receipt or email confirmation related to the passport renewal.
- For passports renewed outside of Malaysia, the applicant must enter Malaysia manually and ensure that the new passport is stamped with the Malaysia Entry Stamp. Avoid using Fastlane/E-Gate/MM2H Lane/Special Lane, and do not present the old passport unless specifically requested.
- Original old passport containing the previous MM2H visa – This must be invalidated by trimming one corner of the passport cover.
- Original new passport:
All required documents must be submitted to us at least 2 days before our visit to the MM2H Centre.
The renewal endorsement process at the MM2H Office typically takes 1 working day, and the passport(s) will be returned to the applicant(s) the next day. However, if there are any technical issues with the MM2H system, the processing time may be extended by 1 or 2 working days (or longer), delaying the return of the passport(s).
